Subject2.0.35 oops

I had this problem before, but never thought to check the syslog for an
oops. My particular configuration:

2.0.35 plain vanilla (no patches)

6x86MX-PR200
SiS 5577 Chipset
Promise UDMA controller (linux drive not on this controller)
3.5gb, 4.3gb ide drives

The machine was running X, about 10 rxvt's, netscape, BitchX.
1024x768x16bpp mode.

Jul 27 04:27:05 groom PAM_pwdb[2633]: (su) session closed for user nobody

Notice that the oops happened right after a su. Then again, a few minutes
ago:

Jul 27 22:45:17 groom PAM_pwdb[3014]: (su) session opened for user root by
(uid=
0)
Jul 27 22:48:31 groom kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request at
virtual
address e48324a3
Jul 27 22:48:31 groom kernel: current->tss.cr3 = 02849000, `r3 = 02849000

What i was doing at the time:

su - root
cd /usr/src
rm -rf linux
tar -xf linux-2.0.35.tar
(at this point it segfaulted)

At this point the machine wouldnt reboot with a ctrl-alt-delete, so i did
a hard reset. I have had problems with 2.0.34 and 2.0.35 croaking on me
after running for approx 24 hours, but i never noticed the oops before.
