A proposal :

Stable releases get the normal penguin logo by default, the developers
releases have the beer drinking penguin logo by default (hint: to indicate
stability ;). Furthermore the bootlogo should be configurable through make
config and selectable through a kernel parameter if there's more than one
logo compiled in.
