    Im suspicious now that its not IRQ layer and Im seeing a side effect
    perhaps simply of getting out of that irq handler fast enough something
    else doesnt go wrong

    For one putting a test tone on the serial port DCD line even at about
    250KHz doesnt cause the same problem, and it definitely should have
