Hmm... I think you just have to be more specific with 2.1:
[root@darth agrier]# route Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 10.0.0.0 * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth1 [root@darth agrier]# route del -net 10.0.0.0 SIOCDELRT: Invalid argument [root@darth agrier]# route del -net 10.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 dev eth1 [root@darth agrier]#
and it goes away. you just have to add the netmask.
