You may have to patch the source code for mount-2.7 to enable use of the nodiratime mount option.
The redhat source code for mount that I had used its own "linux_fs.h" file, rather than "linux/fs.h", and thus never included the "#define SM_NODIRATIME 2048" macro -- mlord@pobox.com The Linux IDE guy
