My computer doesn't lock up, but the second time I go to play some sound, I get:
Playing WAVE : Speed 22050 Hz Mono ... Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error? Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error?
(the same happens when cat'ing to /dev/dsp)
The first time I do this after a reboot, the sound works perfectly.
I've got an SB16 ASP (4.05, ISA, non-PnP). It was working fine until the around 2.1.70 or so (I think). I didn't mention it earlier because I was hoping Alan's sound patches would fix it.
I am using EGCS, but I tried compiling up a kernel in GCC 2.7.2.3 and had the same results.
