SubjectPlease help: bash:a.out:command not found

Excuse me! I am a unix idiot.

I installed RedHat 5.0 kernel 2.0.32 on two machine. After I compile a
hello world program I type a.out. The bash give me that errror message..
I made another perl program. It works fine. I tried Tcl and Tk program,
they need tclsh. I chmod +x . I saw there are 3 x's there. But it still
needs tclsh.

Both machine have the same problem. Please help!
