The /proc/cpuinfo file is normally read by humans. I think applications
which use it should be adapted to what is best suited for humans.

If there was a change in the naming of devices, it was not my doing. I
don't find it inconsistent to have a driver called "RAMDISK" and a
file /dev/ramdisk which allow the use of RAM disks.

I agree. I announced most of the changes on linux-kernel (no one had any
remarks about the 2.1.106 version), then split them up and attempted to
send them to the maintainers, as listed in the MAINTAINERS file. Here is
a list showing the maintainers to whom I've submitted patches:

E-mail to a couple of the maintainers bounced, and there were some files
which didn't seem to be mentioned in MAINTAINERS. For those, I submitted
the proposed changes to linux-patches (where one person made a comment)
and they were applied by Linus.

/usr/src/kernel/linux> grep -i2 mares MAINTAINERS

None of the files for which I had changes looked as though they belonged
to the PCI subsystem. I just looked for files and directories which had
some variation of "pci" in their names. I'm sorry if I misidentified
some.
