For god sakes peoples.. The reason the fpu emulator is in the kernel is because it HAS to be in there. Without it you're up the proverbial creek without a paddle. A compiler will NEVER generate MMX opcodes because they have highly specialised and specific purposes. Until a compiler exists that actually makes use of MMX opcodes (which i dread the day this happens), an MMX emulator is COMPLETELY USELESS and just contributes to kernel bloat. I'd rather have invalid opcodes than put up with ignorant programmers who use MMX instructions without checking to see whether the processor actually supports it.
