I'm new to the development kernels, so I may not be doing this right. I'm trying to get may sound card (SB16) to work under 2.1.106. Currently, some sounds work, and some don't. "cat sound.au > /dev/dsp" works, but programs like x11amp and mpg123 complain about "Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error?" Here is what I've done: I had to compile the sound drivers as modules in order to make the system fit. Then, to install the modules, I ran: insmod soundcore insmod sound insmod uart401 insmod sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma16=5 mpu_io=0x330 insmod opl3 io=0x388 # cat /dev/sndstat OSS/Free:3.8s2++-971130 Load type: Driver loaded as a module Kernel: Linux serv1 2.1.106 #1 SMP Mon Jun 15 01:33:09 EDT 1998 i586 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Card config: Audio devices: 0: Sound Blaster 16 (4.5) Synth devices: 0: Yamaha OPL-3 Midi devices: 0: Sound Blaster 16 Timers: 0: System clock Mixers: 0: Sound Blaster In the 2.0.x kernels, I always had something under "Installed drivers" and "Card config." What am I doing wrong? Thanks -Paul - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.rutgers.edu | ||||||||||||
