Oh, well.. That code provably makes the A20 handling work correctly at least on one laptop, but I guess the "guaranteed to be unused" location isn't.

Before rolling back, can you tell me whether you can instead use some other location, like 0? So the code in arch/i386/boot/setup.S would use the constants "0" and "0x10" instead of using "0x7c00" and "0x7c10" to verify that we have correctly switched the A20 line on..
