Dear Linus,
I have commented out the sys_utimes() code in 2.1.105 and everything seems to be ok so I think it is a dead code that can be safely removed. There is no __NR_utimes in <asm/unistd.h> so sys_call_table[] does not need it (on i386 architectures).
So, perhaps, one could safely remove it, or at least #ifdef it in the official Kernel Source?
