    I believe Mr. Williams was refering to the fact that in 2.1 kernels the
    buffer has been increased to 8k, and that the dmesg tool is only
    displaying the bottom 4k of it.

    I also seem to recall that all you need to do is recompile dmesg on a
    recent kernel to make it work. Perhaps not.
