Hello,
It is not really *my* suggestion but that of Alessandro Rubini (see Linux Device Drivers, ISBN 1-56592-292-1, page 166).
What I am wondering is if I go ahead and implement such a patch (by going through *all* usages of port i/o in all architectures would that be "The Right Thing To Do"?
Any comments? I thought I would ask your opinion, guys, before undertaking what can be potentially be quite a time-consuming task.
