Hello,
My System:
K6 200 64Meg SDRAM 2.1gig IDE HardDrive Spacewalker HOT-603 Motherboard with 1024k Cache Uptime: 4days
The problem that I first noticed was that I was unable to su, it just jung after I entered the password (correct or otherwise).
Then I noticed that I could not log in at all. I could telnet to the machine, and it would connect, but I would not get a login prompt. At the console I got the prompt fine, but apon entering a username/password, it just hung (as su had)
An ifconfig could hang too, and when I pressed control-c, it would return with the following message:
kmod: waitpid(4507,NULL,0) failed, returning -512
Also, I noticed that a lot of the telnet attempts that had hung were stuck in WCHAN of unix_stream_connect1
The strange thing was I was able to run x windows, run heaps of programs in x, close x, and repeat. From within x I was able to get as many kvt terminals as I wanted.
That's about all the information I can give you.
In the end, I had to Reboot it (finger on button!), and it's come again fine.
If anyone knows what caused this, or if it's been corrected at all, please let me know. If you'd like more information, I'll be happy to help. The machine is not an overly busy one, more of a workstation than a server.
