I haven't actually read the code or tried it, but I
did follow the discussions closely.

It doesn't. If we are serious about large-file filesystem
support, we probably shouldn't snip my design constraits
and get the coding bulldogs out :-)

Of course, we should reuse as much of ext2 as posssible,
since that means bugfree, fast and nonbloating code.
