Sounds like you're running into the same problems I am. Did you also have problems with 2.1.99? (That was the first kernel where I hit this problem) I haven't been able to isolate it either... if I run a small C program that calls setuid() to jump to a valid uid and then calls /bin/bash, I get a user shell, but I still can't go through login. _Please_, please please, let me know if you figure anything out. If I find anything, I'll et you know also - I can't figure out what's causing this. BTW... what compiler are you using? GCC 2.8.x or EGCS? I'm gonna try GCC 2.7.2.3 and see what I get...
