I don't think there's been any real argument on this point: an optional boot logo. But no one's gotten off their duff and written the @#$@ thing yet. Let's stop the thread and code, people. I outlined in a previous message four different ways/steps towards this goal (lilo patch, init patch, kernel patch to add log levels/format messages, and *maybe* a patch to printk to replace boot messages with periods).
