    Running on bash. It should compile on bash, shouldn't it?

    BTW: pre-patch-2.1.99-2 -> still the same problem.

    root@alpha:~# bash --version
    GNU bash, version 2.01.1(1)-release (alpha-debian-linux-gnu)
