| |
I will be describing a problem I have recently found in uprading to 2.1.97/2.1.98. The problem did not happen with the 2.1.78 kernel (sorry - I didn't go for the intermediate kernels).
2.1.97 and 2.1.98 (w/ ioapic patch) appears to be stable on my AMD K6. When I bring up the PPP connection, I start getting the following: (usually happens when downloading files, etc)
ide1: unexpected interrupt, status=0x7f
The entries for ide1 in /proc/interrupts indicates that interrupts are being sent....
Now, my hard disk is on ide0, and a CDROM on ide1. The CDROM drive is empty and nothing (as far as I know) is trying to access it.
Once these messages start to appear, if I warm boot the machine the messages come back - even without using the serial device. A full power shutdown and restart is required to avoid these issues.
Has anyone seen this problem and/or have any suggestions?
Ezra
