Hi all...
I have some trouble with my SparcIPX... This has been happening to me for quite a long time (at least since the 2.1.89-VGER snapshot which was around a month or so ago), but only recently was I able to somewhat characterise a little.
In short : when the loads goes up a little, (2.5+) some processes are randomly killed, sometimes. This began to be quite more visible since I wrote a little keyboard light blinker based on the system load (I was getting jealous of LCDproc <grin />). This program queues SIGALRM's every 125ms or so, and reads /proc/loadavg every second. When the load is around 2-3, loadlights gets frequently killed, forcing me to wrap this daemon-wouldbe into a wrapper shell script (and simultaneously having a (custom built) "nanny" cron script). Such random deaths happened in the past, but became quite more obvious on a signal-intensive program -- may be this could be the reason ?
(base machine is a RH4.2, now using egcs-1.02 and kernel 2.1.9x)

I'm currently setting up a (networkless, so that'll take a few floppy swaps) similarly-versioned i386 to try to reproduce the problem, but in the meantime, has anyone any clue of what could be in cause ?
