I'm currently writing a CD from IDE to SCSI under 2.1.98 SMP. The simulation write went fine, and it's 15% through the real thing.
This is AFAICR further than it got under 2.1.97, which was particularly unstable. I'll try grabbing video when it's finished, and let you know the results.
