FWIW, I had very good success with 2.1.95 and 2.1.96, if going over
.89 is acceptable to you. The only way I could get .96 to fail was
with opening about 30 netscape windows (whatever the max is), running
a compile at the same time, setting update to 1 hour, and reading
mail. Eventually, it gve up the ghost and locked hard. Forced me to
reboot and fsck, but everything came through.

A very unscientific stress test I admit, but I felt it was rather
heavy.
