It is indeed much closer, but too many files are changed by both
patches (the alpha-patch and 34pre10) for me to be happy applying them
both.

Anyway I'm at least able to run 2.0.33 now!

Some of the things in the alpha-patch are clearly bug fixes, which
probably ought to go into 2.0.34 (if it isn't far too late already).

I know that some of the things in there are adding new features which
don't belong in a 2.0 kernel, but there are others which are needed to
make the kernel work.

Of course once 2.2 is released the problem will go away :-)
