xawtv, at http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~kraxel/linux/index.html
allows you to watch, and take snapshots.


There's also FXTV, at http://multiverse.com/~rhh/fxtv/
which is only for BSD, but does MPEG conversion on-the-fly.
It'd be nice if it could be ported to Linux. I think the kernel driver might
need some modification to support the continuous grabbing.
