This is only a report:
I just wondered if anybody else noticed these overflows in newer kernel versions.
They didn't appear when I backupped my win95-clients under 2.1.88, but now they are there in the logfile. The affected files and directories then certainly miss on the backup tape which is very bad...
It only happens approx. on 50 Files in a 1Gig-Vfat-Filesystem mounted via smbfs.
This happens only with smbfs, not with any other filesystem (ext2 backups are working flawlessly).
Using something like "cat 16384 > /proc/sys/kernel/file-max" didn't work out.
Is that a known bug, feature, or just my ignorance and fault ?
Greetings,
Juergen
