What about the British Pound symbol (Cursive L with a line)? Or the Italian Lire symbol (little circle with two tails)? The Japanese Yen symbol (Y with two lines)
Granted, when the Euro takes over a few of those might go away, but you just can't just forget they ever existed!!!
