I just compiled 2.1.97 and tried to reproduce the Oops, but it locks up the kernel completely now. I can't even reboot using SysRq and I get no oops either.

PS: I had to make "lp" as module, it will fail else with:
lp.c: In function `lp_init': lp.c:719: `parport_nr' undeclared (first use this function)
`parport_nr' is only defined inside #ifdef MODULE
