in case nobody noticed (I still don't receive the kernel digests), 2.1.96/kernel/kmod.c does not compile, because what reads:
kernel_thread(kmod_thread, NULL, CLONE_FILES | CLONE_FS | CLONE_SIGHAND); ^ ^
is NOT a space but a 0xa0 (160, 0240). Changing it into a normal space let it compile normally.
