AFAIK, it was taken out because:
- it doesn't have any advantages over ext2fs
- it's hardly being used
- it takes up space in the kernel source tree
- it needs to be maintained and kept up to date, while hardly
anybody uses it
- ext2 is the standard linux fs, and all xiafs does is adding to
the chaos (for newbies, that is)
