It would be good to check that it works in polled mode. If it does (and given
that Anthony has discovered 2.0 is just as bad in irq mode) then if need be we
can quietly forget it for 2.2. As of 2.1.96 parport doesn't grab irqs unless
you explicitly ask it to.

I have a patch (and I've sent it to Tim) which makes the interrupt-driven lp
work on my machine but it seems that this is a somewhat murky area and I don't
know how well it'll work for others.
