hello.
i've noticed two problems with 2.1.95 ..
firstly, sometimes when my modem hangs up (grr) .. and i try to re-establish ppp, it fails with no error message.. pppd refuses to start back up.. and will not return me to the prompt until i break out of it.
secondly, i have noticed stability issues (2.1.x duh :-) - last night this system froze without any warnings in the logs... hard power off was my only method of recovery... fsck took care of the filesystem fine
with 2.1.92, i noticed that every few hours, disk thrashing would start to occur and the system would slowly come to a grinding halt and be indistinguishable from a hung system -- but this seems to have been fixed with 2.1.95
the workstation config (running Red Hat 5.0) is as follows : -
Pentium PRO 180 *single processor* on a FX based board 64M EDO RAM 3.2G ATA (IBM) HDD running from the onboard IDe IDE ROM S3-Trio32
Kernel 2.1.95 [unmodified] pppd-2.2.3 (rpm from redhat.com) Redhat-5-stock gcc (2.7.2 i believe)
one point of interest may be that this system has no swap drive - (don't ask why) - but has remained up with 2.0.33 for months at a time - (it really doesn't go under heavy loads)
