I will check out the ATAPI standard just to be sure (after I get
home from work), but I think you are correct -- this looks like
useless noise. Neither of my ATAPI drives do the spin-down/
spin-up thing (or at least they do it really fast and quietly),
so I havn't seen this myself. Assuming I don't see anything in
that standard that suggests there might be a problem, I'll gladly
apply your patch.
