Netscape, in particular, just folds up and goes brain-dead under 2.1.90 and p91 when running on a machine with 40-Meg of memory. On my other x86 box, with 64-Meg, it seems fine. Originally, I thought it was network-related, but after David Miller suggested the vm system, observation revealed a brief flicker of drive activity coincident with its waking up. - FWIW
