Ugh !
This sounds rather familiar. Our dialin routers at work are Cisco boxes,
and they seem to work very well except for MTU negotiation. They seem to
have adopted a terrorist attitude to MTU negotiation, i.e. they won't :-)
It's 1500, take it or leave it. In this case (ppp dialin), you can't even
connect if you try to force the MTU to something sensible e.g. 576.

Just FYI that this is not an isolated case...
