That is actually what was triggering it for me as well. In my case, it was a pre-2.1.90-3 machine connecting to a 2.1.89 host though, with the 2.1.89 machine logging the bad checksum.
I also found that it was at the end of a session (it was much easier to find using slogin than it was using something fast like scp).
If I get time I'm going to grab tcpdump and capture it. --- john
