Well I had a problem with my old Sony CDU-8012 which doesn't work with
the new code, but works reasonably with the old code. This is what I
get at boot time:

Feb 4 15:45:44 pcitpdp01 kernel: sending SDTR -REJ- Vendor: SONY Model: CD-ROM CDU-8012 Rev: 3.1e
Feb 4 15:45:44 pcitpdp01 kernel: Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Feb 4 15:45:44 pcitpdp01 kernel: Detected scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 6, lun 0
Feb 4 15:45:44 pcitpdp01 kernel: scsi : detected 1 SCSI tape 1 SCSI cdrom 2 SCSI disks total.
Feb 4 15:45:44 pcitpdp01 kernel: sr0: CDROM not ready. Make sure there is a disc in the drive.
Feb 4 15:45:44 pcitpdp01 kernel: sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 0x/0x caddy

Later when I try to access the drive it told me that it was busy or
there was no disk in the drive (can't remember exactly).

The drive is retired now and the code works fine with the new cheapo
24x no-name drive I got as a replacement.
