I have a short and simple patch against current kernels which enables the passing of configuration parameters such as io and irq to the sb module in sound. This eliminates the requirement for the options sb io=... line in /etc/modules.conf. Parameters compiled into the sb module in this way are overridden by 'command-line' or 'options sb' lines. It works well for me; others have tested the patch, but have not had sb cards to check functionality. I don't expect any problems. The current patch is against pre-90-1, but should work against most recent kernels; I just applied it to pre-90-2 without incident. I have been using it since 2.1.87. It can be found at http://as220.org/jb/linux --Jim My Page - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.rutgers.edu | ||||||||||||
