SubjectHow to freeze 2.1.89 :(
Date
Hello,

Something is wrong with the scsi layer(? but see my scsi-tape mail today) in 2.1.89, sorry no log messages.
I have a tar archive on a zip-disk (made with 2.1.85 as far as i can remember)
made with
tar czf /dev/sdb some_dirs # /dev/sdb is my zip-drive (parallel zip)

When you try
tar xvzf /dev/sdb
then the whole things gets stuck and does nothing....

even worse if you do a

fdisk -l
then the Kernel FREEZES No networking no log messages nothing.

Regards

Dietmar
