Ben, FWIW, I am using 2.1.89 and seeing the same thing. LAN with 4 Linux
and one Sun SPARC running Solaris 2.5.1

2.1.89 box is Debian-2.0 current as of yesterday with the FTP archive.

I am using a Linux-2.0.29 box as the router and the 2.1.89 box keeps
arping for it. It DOES have the another linux box in the cache but it is
not caching the gateway.
