SubjectSound problems with 2.1.x

Playing long continuous streams of audio on 2.1.x kernels starts popping
and some static and then eventually cutting out altogether..

Stopping the currently playing program and restarting it will work for a
while and then the whole thing will start over again...

I tried this with IO-APIC and without..

system consists of the following...

Tyan Tomcat IV Dual P-150's
40 Meg ram.
RedHat 5.0 glibc 2.0.6
kerneld loading sound modules at boot... with the -k option to keep them
loaded
Sound Card is a soundblaster SB 4.13 detected OK (220)

Has anyone else experienced this? You won't notice it if your only
playing small files.. I notice it because I am playing Mpeg3's for hours
at a time... This does not happen under 2.0.32 which is also on the
machine..
