The URL I have is
http://www.uni-paderborn.de/fachbereich/AG/heiss/linux/bigphysarea.html
though it doesn't seem to answer at the moment. I can send it to you by mail if need be. It's an improved version of the original patch by Matt Welsh, available under
ftp://ftp.cs.cornell.edu/pub/mdw/
If you want to move to a scatter-gather scheme at some point, one PCI-to-generic-bus chip that's very pleasant is the PLX9080 (www.plxtech.com). We switched from the AMCC part for just this reason.
Another option is to have an RT-Linux process poll the AMCC DMA controller to reissue transfers when needed, provided your board can buffer at least a few hundred microseconds of data. (http://luz.cs.nmt.edu/~rtlinux/)
