SubjectRe: [Patch] io-apic-patch-2.1.84-F
Hello Ingo,

for what I can say ... Good Work(tm) !

Hw Cfg:

Tyan Tomcat IIID
2 x Pentium 200
32 Mb EDO RAM
3 ide HDs + 1 ide CDROM (ide0 on INTA, ide1 on INTB)
ncr53c810 on PCI
Matrox Mystique on PCI
Audio Card (aedsp16) on ISA
4 serial ports (3 in use)

Kernel 2.1.84+your patch, SMP=1, booted fine with pirq=0

attached 'lspci -v' output.

I am testing the patch running parallel compilation (make -j2) of egcs
source tree, X11 session, xisp, netscape, pine, ICQ (java sdk), timidity
(midi to wav conversion and output on /dev/dsp) and 4 xterms.
The machine is happily swapping 30 megs but it is still very responsive.
I can hear good music (with some hiccups of course when the loaded machine
can not cope with 44 Khz output to the sound card), and write this e-mail.
Uptime on a plateau of ~ 5.

Here the /proc/interrupts output:

CPU0 CPU1
0: 446885 0 XT PIC timer
1: 12174 10448 IO-APIC keyboard
2: 0 0 XT PIC cascade
3: 228 201 IO-APIC serial
4: 3607 3604 IO-APIC serial
5: 4692 2523 IO-APIC serial
8: 0 0 IO-APIC rtc
10: 44010 43949 IO-APIC MSS audio codec
13: 4 0 XT PIC fpu
14: 807637 758906 IO-APIC ide0
15: 325531 317148 IO-APIC ide1
17: 566 563 IO-APIC ncr53c8xx
NMI: 0
IPI: 0

The machine is still crunching the egcs sources and playing music, of
course I can not say it is "rock solid" but hearing the disks spinning
hard and seeing the uptime reaching peaks of 8, I am impressed of the good
response of the shells (and timidity ... it is still playing at 44 Khz) !!

If you need more info, don't hesitate to ask :)

Ciao,
Riccardo.
