There is NO crash backtrace, which is the main reason this concerns me. ========================================= karaka:~> export/wine980201/wine winw Segmentation fault in 32-bit code (0x080ca02c). Loading symbols: export/wine980201/wineSegmentation fault in 32-bit code (0x080 59520). Segmentation fault inside debugger, exiting. ==========================================
karaka:~> gdb export/wine980201/wine winw GDB is free software and you are welcome to distribute copies of it under certain conditions; type "show copying" to see the conditions. There is absolutely no warranty for GDB; type "show warranty" for details. GDB 4.16 (i486-slackware-linux), Copyright 1996 Free Software Foundation, Inc...
/home/karaka/peterw/winw: No such file or directory. (gdb) set args winw (gdb) run Starting program: /home/karaka/peterw/export/wine980201/wine winw
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0xf1 in ?? () (gdb) bt #0 0xf1 in ?? () Cannot access memory at address 0x8680. (gdb) =========================================== I have reported it to the Wine list.
Running under gdb is simillarly uninformative, the problem appears to be in the "wierd shit" Wine has to do with memory management to emulate windows and when it fails there's no easy way to do a backtrace.
I'm not sure it's a kernel problem, I'm simply reporting it here because it may be. (As it was when dosemu broke a while back.)
