Hi all..
I thought I might try out the 2.1.89 kernel in the testing dir on ftp.linux.kernel.org, and so far its working fine.. :)
System is p133, 32MB, RedHat 5, glibc2.06.. I've got a network here, I'm in X, the sound works (after I reversed the patch to sound_firmware.c which is imho wrong because it causes sound.o to have missing symbol errno)
I've tested playing mp3s.. havn't compiled anything, or tried to do anything else.. But it seems pretty flawless to me! :) (/me will probably send in another mail in a few hours saying that it crashed because of that remark)
Attached I've got the warning generated from make_modules.. A lot of them have been there for a while (ide-cd.. there are new floppy ones and a host of umsdos warnings) I lost the warnings for the make zImage part, but there wasn't many from memory..
Can someone elaborate on the changes to this kernel? I imagine they must be pretty scary if its in the testing dir... :)
I might try creating a swap file on a floppy disk for something to do.. <g>
Cheers,
