I should add here that the __wait_on_page bug has nothing to do with SCSI at all. The process hangs accessing a large software RAID 5 partition built on a number of IDE drives. The problem seems to be with the RAID 5 driver. Accessing IDE drives directly doesn't seem to cause a problem.
