This is a bug in case SNDCTL_TMR_METRONOME, introduced in 2.1.86.
Someone needs to get out the 2.1.85 code and the 2.1.86 code and write a patchlet to make SNDCTL_TMR_METRONOME do whatever it used to, rather than returning an uninitialized value.
I'll do this if tonight unless someone else jumps on it first.
