Hi,
here is a revised patch for Kernel 2.1.130 (also applicable to 2.1.131) to give the correct info in /proc/cpuinfo for the AMD K6-2 processor. The patch only changes arch/i386/kernel/setup.c and improves the following things:
1. get the flags in a correct way (for the K6-2 and K6 processors, the complete set of flags will be returned only by the extended cpuinfo function 0x80000001, the function 1 only returns the standard flags) The K6-2 processor adds a bit for the SYSCALL/SYSRET instructions. The bit is now called "star" like in the AMD documentation.
2. show the flags even if no stepping information is available (or the stepping is 0!)
Alan, could you include this patch into your collection (for later inclusion in the official kernel sources)?
Regards,
Hans-Frieder
