I think it might be the combination of these two things
that have triggered the error. In 2.1.131 the VFS locking
scheme for some FS operations changed in a subtle way...

AFAIK devfs has been updated. 2.1.131 has survived very
bad pounding from hordes of people who wanted to test
the new VM code. I guess that leaves e2compr...
