We are indeed missing a number of historic kernels (before 1.0). If anyone has them, I would appreciate a copy.
What versions do you have in mind?
I have a
-rw-r--r-- 1 aeb aeb 444413 Aug 17 1992 linux97.taz
(on a xiafs filesystem - good that that is still supported under 2.0 :-)
Checking the contents I find that it is the same as linux-0.97.tar.Z dated Sep 27, 1992. So, the file dates in the ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/Historic/ directories are probably not the original ones.
I have 0.99/pl15[a-j], 0.99/pl14[a-z] but from the earlier 0.99pl* only a few edited by me - no clean copies. [Am certainly interested in missing fragments.]
But old kernels are fairly well documented. The remaining fragments of software are more difficult to find. The oldest binary for libc that I can find is libc2.2.2. But I have source only since libc-4.4.1. Any older sources are welcome.

P.S. I suspect that CDROM manufacturers like Yggdrasil or TransAmerican or so must have snapshots of fairly old systems - but again perhaps only binaries?
